I'm afraid I have to respectfully disagree with Fidget about Curcuit City and Best Buy extended warranties. I've had to deal with both companies for computers, MP3 players, televisions, and DVD players and I've always received the best of service. They've never balked at replacing a bad unit even near the end of a 3 year contract. I guess the one bad thing I could say based on my comments here is that maybe I shouldn't buy anything else from these guys if I've had so much trouble with my purchases! :-) But I'm not afraid of their extended warranties at all.

I decided I will go with the Toshiba ADP, because the BestBuy plan doesn't cover damages as well as Toshiba (I might kick mine down the stairs! just kidding). I'm sure bestbuy is very good about "defective" merchendise, but when it comes to self-inflicted damages I think they tend to fall short.

do some searching on thses forums you will find a thread with huge issues with instore warranties from places such as bestbuy, circuitcity, and many others. it was rediculous the run around that they were giving people over damaged systems and other issues. toshiba is the only way to go in my opinion since i have never had them give me anyhting but the straight goods and they gladly and promply dealt with any issue i had.

personally i would say that toshiba warranty is best, it is also worldwide, its nice that you can return your machien to bestbuy but when you are out of the country in places bestbuy is not you are SOL, with the toshiba worldwide warranty you are protected.

simply put i would say that if you had so much trouble with products bought at bestbuy or companies of its like then dont buy from them. as for warranties i would go with toshiba, and avoid the in store warranties.

I'm on my 3rd Toshiba laptop in the past 10 yrs and would definitely recommend the extended warranty from the company. The best part of owning a Toshiba is that you can go to any authorized service provider for walk-in repairs in most major cities in the US. It's much quicker than shipping your notebook to the depot, since you lose 3 or 4 days just in transit. Plus you get to talk to an actual technician. I've had a keyboard replaced within 24 hours!

Also note that the service departments at BestBuy and C.C. don't actually repair the laptops on site. They ship them to Toshiba for diagnosis and repair, so you've got to wait another few days for processing.
