8890 Hard Drive Problems

I've had my 8890 for nearly 2 years now, mostly with no problems. It is set up with a 60 GB main hard drive and a 20 GB secondary drive. On Friday night I left the machine on overnight running a database program that takes over 6 hours to complete. When I woke up on Saturday and checked the machine, I had a frozen screen. The pointer would move but could not select any icons and there was no keyboard input. I held down the power button to shut down and then restarted. When it tried to restart, I got a message stating 'Operating System Not Found.' When trying to restart I noticed that the primary drive was not being detected, only the 20 GB secondary drive was recognized. I removed both drives and switched their positions and when restarted, still recognized only the 20 GB hard drive. After trying many different things I finally made the assumption that the 60 GB Toshiba drive had quit on me. I went to Fry's and bought a new 100 GB Seagate drive (that was the only notebook drive that was not another Toshitba that they had in stock) and have been trying to install XP Pro on it for the past few hours. I start the computer with the XP Pro CD in the drive. I partition the drive and then it looks like it installs. When I restart without the install CD in the drive, it gives me the same 'Operating System Not found' message (though it does recognize the new hard drive when booting up). If I install XP and then restart with the CD loaded it goes back to wanting to set the partitions. Am I missing a step in the install process or could there be something else wrong with the computer besides the hard drive?

Thanks for any input anyone can give.

Steve

Found the fix. Somehow, the boot order got changed to not have the CD drive checked first. Changed the setting and got it to continue loading up XP.
