Frame rate loss when using Monitor.

I get some bad framerate loss when using my dell 20" 2005 FP widescreen, I have it set to the primary monitor and the laptop monitor is off, is there any suggestions about what can fix this, when I switch back to the laptop display I gain back the loss of framerate.I have tried several diffent settings I am just wondering if anyone else has any slowdowns when using an external monitor set as the primary on their 7700, video card is 6800 ddr3 3.6 ghz Proc. 1 Gig ram.

Do u have the correct driver installed for your monitor ?

I do, the monitor shows correctly in the device manager and I tried with both sets of alienware video drivers and am currently using the forceware drivers provided by you in your driver forum, thanks BTW. and I still get tons of slowdown when gaming on my external monitor, I have tried a different brand of monitor also and I get the same problem.

I was getting the same thing on my Dell 24". GTA would not open when the external monitor was set to primary and the frame rate was choppy. In the video card settings there is a way to adjust the settings for each individual application and give it an individual profile. I'm not quite sure what I did, but after I set up a profile for that game, it worked great.

Well just for bleeps and giggles did u try runin your lappie as primary and having the other screen just as a copy? thats what im doin as we speak and the frame rate is as low as ever ;-)

check if you are using sinlge monitor acceleration, other things reduce performance
