Hey I used to have a Packard bell...but that was before anyone actually listened to me.
I remember the day we bought it too.....That was a sad day for our family and happy one to the Best Buy CSR....He looked almost giddy when he told us that it was imparative that we needed a modem, otherwise the computer won't work. And 128mb of ram will last us the rest of our known lives...And a gig of HD space would never fill up...(which in fact was a lie brought to us in disgust the very next week, when we installed diablo 2, and it filled up the Hard drive...taking up 800 megs...). That was the first and last I ever bought a computer at Bestbuy. They have horrible tech support.
N e way the Packard Bell was finally made scrap about ...2 years ago..(maybe a bit more). My sister was still using the piece of crapola. It was upgraded to a 512 stick of sd-ram 2700 (ugh) and still only at 1.1ghz and a 1 gig HD. Never upgraded..(it was the red-headed step child of our house) I hated the beast. It had WIndows 98 SE installed. Music Match Jukebox. and like 500 songs. It was pathetic excuse for a computer and needed to be put out of its misery.
So While I was working where she was, she paid me the money to build her a new system...I was extactic, plus I grinning madly at the thought of destroying the piece of crapola PB. In the end she got a 2.4ghz AMDxp, 1xCd-rw and 1xdvd-rw, 512 ddr 3200, Nvidia..mx4400(don't know if thats correct) and Winxp pro. I ripped the guts out of the PB and got a working cd-rw and floopy drive. the rest I melted with fire or smashed the living crapola out of with a hammer and then dumped it. I still have a piece of plastic from revealing the Pentium logo plus the PB symbol. A memory well worth keeping.
The funny thing out of all of this, is that she had a blazingly fast internet connection its like 4 to 5 megs per second. Well the PB was only allowing her to receive a Whopping 400KB's per second...It was horrid. But now she gets the full blast, and after testing it the first time she was taken aback about the speed.
BTW I hate packard Bell and their Crapola systems. Packard Bell's founder needs to be shot.
