Does apple have any plans to put the G5 in any new laptops? Do they have any plans for any new laptops?

While there's a chance the new low power G5s might make it to PowerBooks before the Intel switch it's unlikely.

New ibooks are supposedly coming out tomorrow however.

They'd have to completely redesign the system. The Low Power 970FXs may not be ready until late this year and if everything goes well with developers and Intel, you may see Yonah based Powerbooks/iBooks announced January 9th at MWSF. I can't see Apple putting the development money into a system which will only get one revision.

What Steve Jobs said at his Keynote speech is that by the the next WWDC there will be intel macs in the marketplace. Thats it.

That could mean that the (supposed) ibook update later today has intel processors, or that we won't see anything till june. Its anyones guess.

When we see them announced will depend on the developers having working stable programs and drivers for Tiger x86 and Intel being able able to deliver on time. An announcement in january with a spring rollout is not out of the question. Steve Jobs would love to be able to surprise everyone by releasing these machines a couple months early. If not, they will be announced at WWDC with immediate release.
