Yeah, I sent them one of my extra bottles of touch-up paint for my Porsche 911 GT2 of the same color.

Just kidding, I wish. I found out the color code after scouring the Internet. At that time, a custom color was the same cost as any other standard (lowest price color). I tacked on an extra $15 for high gloss paint. Here's the info:

I wish mine would hurry up and get on its way. I was so bummed when the tracking number turned out to be a false alarm.

Do you know the status of it? Is the shell painted and already at Sager in California being assembled?
The best I've told was it was still in the painting process, about two weeks ago. I certainly hope its being assembled, but I can't seem to get any more information than that. :/ At this rate I should be getting it around Christmas. XD I just hope after all this time that I don't end up with a crappy screen or something and have to turn around and send it back...

WOOHOO!!!!!! My Porsche Speed Yellow 5680 is almost here!!!! Got up at 10:00 am, checked my email, and got a tracking number. Found out that it left yesterday by next day air (thanks Tom ) and they tried to deliver it at 9:30 am today but couldn't get in the building. The UPS truck sits at the end of the block everyday from 4:45-5:00 pm so people can come get their missed deliveries. I'll be picking it up then

Congrats. I've pestered them again to find out how much longer. Its looking like another couple of weeks at least for me.

Can pc torque custom paint a 4780? And do I have to order it from them to get it painted with the chameleon colors?
Got my laptop
The color is awesome. No dead or stuck pixels It's so much better than what I expected. Gorgeous looking and extremely powerful. Awesome keyboard, and I actually like the touchpad alot. Pics and review to come. Sooo busy. Everything had to hit all at once and they're all due before Thanksgiving break. The high gloss clearcoat is either extra thin or non-existant.

To do anything other than paint a new order of a 5680 or 8890 ordered through PCTorque, you would have to contact them and special-order. I doubt PCTorque would be ready to do any special orders of other machines yet - they seem to have a large backlog of 5680 and 8890 orders to clear. But they would probably be willing to discuss with you what you would like to have done, if it's even feasible at all, and if so, how long it would take and what it would cost, and roughly how long it will be untill they have time to address such things.

Note that special ordering something, like a paint job for a 4780, that PCTorque has not already researched, may end up being significantly more expensive than you would expect, due to R&D costs to do the job right...

Well, unless someone else ordered one in Laguna Seca Blue, I should be getting mine soon. For photos of the solid colors it seems that the high angle shots show substantial orange peel on the lids while the low angle shots don't seem to show any. The pictures posted of the chameleon colors don't seem to have this inconsistency.

To those who have purchased painted notebooks: On a scale of 0 to 100 (100 being the best), how satisfied are you with the paint job?

Those who ordered a custom paint job (namely CClyph), how close does your paint job match the desired color?

I am wanting to get mine painted to match my BMW (Topaz Blue Metallic). Hypersonic (www.hypersonic-pc.com) has yet to return my email asking some questions, but maybe those here can help:

1. What is the highest screen resolution available with the 15" UXGA Active Matrix LCD Display w/ Super Wide Viewing Angle without having to pan (scroll) around the screen? Will the screen be able to display the full 1600x1200 without panning?

2. What is the highest screen resolution available using the Extended Desktop Mode in Windows XP Professional? If I have an external monitor capable of supporting 1600x1200, would I be able to run my Windows desktop at 3200x1200 (two 1600x1200 screens side-by-side)?

3. What is the higest screen resolution available when using the S-Video output to a television? Is this only a clone of the display, or does this use the Extended Desktop Mode as well?

How is the technical support and hardware warranty on the PCTorque systems? Does Sager handle all of that, or does PCTorque? Is it mail-in service, or on-site? If I am not satisfied with the quality of the paint job or need to have it repaired, is that covered under the warranty? Adam@PCTorque: Who should I contact regarding a custom-color quote?

Your help is appreciated.
