Spiike, Yes I guess you could do it at home, the temp you bake it at depends on what the material is and the paints used, they're all different. I'm not a wet send expert but I think 1500 and 3000 is usually used.

guitarded, No, you'd lose the warranty.

adam- i dont care about the warranty

how much would it cost?

When I thought I had to re-order my 8790 I noticed that Adam is offering Paint Jobs on the 8790 now. Are the paint jobs only for new orders or can exsisting 8790 owners take advantage of the slick paint jobs?

I don't think it's something I'd want to do because none of our people have experience with that model and we like to test each model before painting. I'd hate to have taken it apart incorrectly and cause any problems with it. Maybe you can try Voodoo, or what another member did which was take his laptop apart himself and take it to a local paint place to paint the parts and put it back together himself.

It was meant for guitarded, sorry.

I miss posts all the time, so it's best to email stuff like what you asked.

We can paint an existing purchased 8790 systems for the same price except you pay shipping again.

If PCTorque is willing to have it painted I would imagine the warranty remains.

Gahhhh. Tempting I've got a friend flying back to GA from Japan soon. Don't know how long he's going to be there, but if he took it back with him and sent it to get painted... hmm. Wonder how long he's going to be there.

Ah, question for Adam while we're talkin' paint.

I've got my 8790 here and the left palmrest's paint is shot already. You can clearly tell where my hand sits and it looks like it's starting to even bubble a bit (if that's what you'd call it, don't know exactly how to explain it). The right side's becoming noticeable, too. That's the stock paint. What is PCT's paint like? Does it suffer from similar problems? If so, there's no point in me spending big bucks on paint if it's going to react like the stock paint job did.

First one I've heard of on an 8790, but I've seen stock paint wear in cases here and there. I've never seen the paint jobs have this problem. It's a thicker layer and sticks very well. The paint we use should easily outlast the factory paint 100% of the time.

Would his stock paint wearing through already be covered under warranty?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin
what is your method for painting?
Adam is it possible to just order already custom painted LID from you and install it my self...

I am only looking for lid to be painted...and do not wish to send entire rig back for the job..thought would be easier just to order custom painted lid.

let me know how much too

thanks

i have 5690

Furious... No, he wont sell you it.

Even if he did, do you think you would be willing to take the entire laptop apart (since you have to, inorder to PROPERLY install the panels) and then put it back together?
why not ? Ive done it before with an ease about the stress crack when sager sent me replacement ...

i guess ill just email him for best communication
