As for the "charging of the credit cards"... yes i believe they already charged
REALLY?! Ouch, start paying interest on something you don't have yet to use hehehe

Marketing SCAM to take your cancellation fees!! hehehe j/k

Delay or not. I strongly believe Asus is doing the right thing with this. They might've have tons of left over inventory from the current Z70V.

Anyone recall the time frame between the two M6 series? The original one and the refresh one?
I think Justin said the original m6 was released during Thanksgiving/Christmas, then the 'refresh' in May.

5 months it seems
If that is the case, 5 months it is for the refresh of Z70va hahah...
Well the difference in the M6 and the refreshed was very minimal- i think it was only like a rom update, same card. This is an entirely new set up on the Z70v (x600 and x700 is a different card) and with bluetooth. But just because there was a 5 month delay on the other, it doesn't mean that we are looking at another 5 month delay on this. There is no relation here with that other delay. The long delay of the W1 refresh and then cancellation & then reinstatement. Look at the W2, after all the delays, it's finally released in some countries for a while now, but not here. With the Z70V, they can come out with it whenever they feel like releasing it.

istnc is supposedly on schedule for Aug 7th landing.

Interesting that no one else is getting them? :-/

Different people get different dates.... thats all their is to it

We'll have to wait a little longer to see who gets what, and when.

My IBM shipped yesterday... so looks like I will be sticking with that. Maybe you should look at the T43p?

Found out that the z70v refresh was delayed last night and also found out about a 40% off dell coupon. I now have a i9300 on order. I would have liked the z70v refresh more but I have waited long enough. Maybe my next laptop will be a asus.

Its too bad... I'm going to try to wait, but if not, I might just go for the Ferrari. Asus is making a bad move by delaying it... college and business users are probably its biggest customers. Of course, ISTNC's move to offer paid preorders is now paying off--like I warned everyone, its better to wait especially if you're going to be putting money on it. Now they'll have to pay a 15% restocking fee.

Anyways, the 9300 and the IBM both just aren't comparable. The 9300 is much heavier and larger, and Thinkpads aren't comprable power-wise.

Well it's not only your opinion, there are many other dealers that had a problem with that. I guess ISTNC was already down on their current inventory and went ahead & "locked" future sales. As for the "charging of the credit cards"... yes i believe they already charged.
Yep, they've been charged from the beginning. That was one of my biggest complaints, and I tried pointing it out whenever somebody was considering preorders. It wasn't a mistake by ISTNC, it was smart business--good for ISTNC, not so good for the consumer. Look at it now... everyone who paid money for the laptop now has no choice but to go with the Z70Va from ISTNC, unless they want to pay a fairly large restocking fee. Quite frankly, I hope they learn to read the fine print before ordering... this delay could put people back into school with no laptop.

Well, the only reason this is curious to me is that I doubt ASUS sent their whole initial batch to ISTNC. I mean every other retailer who has said anything has said that it won't be until late August/early September now.

I'm just hesitant to take the fact that ISTNC is the only one getting them early?

I think we are thinking way to far into it... only thing we can do is sit back and watch... anything more would be a waste of time/enery. Lets juuuuust sit back and watch.

You know, I don't think you're being fair here. I can only speak about my experience, but when I called ISTNC about the refresh pre-orders the day after they came out, Rick asked why I wanted it, and when I told him, he basically told me that the Z70V would do what I wanted, and that when I order, I should save my money.

Now, he basically talked me out of the pre-order -- why would he do that if he was trying to lock-in future sales?
No, i'm talking about locking people into sales and taking away from others, they also can't cancel. Since they're the only ones doing this "pre-order" and supposedly "leaked" the news.

There are two posts on the same topic. I'll be merging them.

Who says they can't cancel? The only reason ISTNC put that fee there is for the people who cancel because its a couple days late. If there is an extended delay, you can bet both of your balls that they would refund all spent moneys.
