Updating a newly bought system?

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd start this thread for newbies.

I was wondering what exactly would need updating on a newly bought Sager regarding device drivers, motherboard and Windows updates, graphics etc..?

I believe this info will be well helpful to everybody. Might save alot of hassle with unannounced errors like Xian was having i.e. blue screens etc..

Cheers in advance..

John Paul

Hi ION, a lot depends upon the drivers that Sager is shipping with the newer boxes. If the versions on the driver CD's are the same as what is on Sager's website then there is nothing further to do. Otherwise check some of the threads in the reviews section (my detailed review covers driver updates in depth - however it might be out of date with some of the newer driver versions).

Cheers Bud..!!

Hey man,

Thanks a mill for the reply. Since you mailed a couple of weeks ago regarding the DVD region thingys, I've ended up ordering the 5680.

The uncertainty of the life of the current 16" 8890 made me reconsider. But to be honest I think I was abit mesmerised.. 8890 -homer drool here-..!!!

The 5680 makes much more sense to me. There are things I would like but I can get a few extras with the price of the 5680 like 2 primary batteries with the 2nd bay Li-ION. I'll be able to get a backsack over here(Ireland - shipping one from US cost more than the bag).

I'm wiring my money tommorow so hopefully It'll get on the road by friday evening or monday.. should have by december anyway..

Cheers again for the advice..

Oh yea, where can I get those 3DMark benchmark apps. Have Sandra.. want to gather info for a review when it comes..

Anyway..

JP
