warcraft iii video problems

hi,
when i play war3 the highest setting i can put the game on is 800x600x32. this would be okay but the screen is still all streched out and moving my mouse left to right is super accelerated compared to up and down. on my 9300 i use the omega drivers with an ati x300. when i try to set the res above 8x6 it does not fit on the screen. my normal desktop res is 1440x900/ 8x6 would be fine if i could turn off the widscreen is this possible?

is this a Inspiron 9300 with an x300? What drivers are you using for the x300? What screen size are you equipped with?

As far as I can remember reagarding ati cards is in the drivers theres an option to not fill out the screen with scaling but you'll have black borders in the areas where the image is supposed to be strectched out.
