How are Compal Notebooks? DL70

Just came across these today....anyone comment on the quality of these? Are they related to Asus in any way? With that said, how would you rate them against Asus?

Hi:

I had never own a Compaq, but at least 3 people I worked with had the same problem with their Compaqs.

The laptop freeze for no reason, and the only way to "un-freeze" them was removing the AC and the battery.

The problem did not ocurred very often, but it was kind of weird

I was hoping no one would make this mistake...not Compaq, but Compal

Compal is a reputable manufacturer.. they make notebooks for a variety of big name clients such as Toshiba, and I believe, some of HP lines too.

In regards to the DL70, I saw it in person at the LA computer show. Pretty thin, very good screen. Good sturdy plastic design all around, and pretty reasonable pricing. The only flaw I've found so far is the battery life, which is around 2 hours. Personally, at the moment, the only Compal model that catches my eye is the EFL 30, a 14' wxga notebook with just a good a graphics card, but better battery life... and much more portable.

the dl70 is a nice laptop but like cowman said its battery life is pretty poor.
