Hi Everybody! (Me again!)

Podcasting...I wonder how it works? Look here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/downloadtrial/

it's in the link you provided

What is podcasting?

Podcasting is a way to 'subscribe' to radio programmes and have them delivered to your personal computer. The podcasts in this trial are free. As a subscriber to a BBC Radio podcast you can automatically receive the latest edition of the programme. This file can then be easily transferred to an mp3 player. To do this you will need an internet connection and a piece of podcast software which is usually available free of charge. This software can check the BBC for new episodes and automatically download them to your player.

from my understanding... podcasting is kind of misleading. i think podcasting just means recording programs beforehand and distributing the mp3 files. its called podcasting because then people can take the shows on their ipods and listen to them... you can theoretically do this with any other mp3 player/computer- the files are always mp3, so you could use Windows Media Player or anythign else

someone correct me if im wrong

Podcasting....How does it work?

You grip your overpriced, underfeatured apple mp3 player firmly in your right hand (left hand if you're a lefty) and in one clean motion, retract your arm (fully extended) till its over your head and swiftly hurl that overpriced piece of apple garbage away from you with all the might that you can muster.

It is more fun to do this as a group, preferably while standing in front of a lake, raging white water river or garbage dump to deter partakers in this growing sport from second thoughts that could lead them to try to retrieve there Ipods.

The sport is still in its infancy but has been growing in popularity as more and more people realise that theres nothing really special about Ipods and that there are much cheaper alternatives from Dell and Iriver to name but 2 alternatives.

The pace of growth of the sport is so staggering that some believe it might be added to the next Olympic season.

The latest iTunes has support for podcast subscriptions, yes. iPodder (http://ipodder.sf.net) is also a good program.

Someone's jealous because they don't have one!
The iPod would be overpriced if there was anything really comparable, but until recently all competitors have been plagued by a variety of problems. From the sounds of it, the iRiver and maybe the Dell DJ are getting there but still have their share of problems (judging by user comments I've read) while the Creative Nomad is apparently still a piece of garbage. What the iPod has going for it is its design, from the form to the UI. I'm a little concerned about how the battery issue will pan out, but other than that I love it. I paid for the quality.

Edit: I don't really know why I just felt the need to defend my iPod purchase.. Apple must have gotten to me in the night...

People record broadcasts and you can download and listen to them on your iPod. It's a fairly cool idea but I don't have the time to listen to other people.

I'm just wondering what you reccomend instead of the iPod, since the iPod seems to be so inferior in your mind.
