What's in the bios?
I know almost all notebook reviews never mention the bios, but we're not the average non-technical user, are we? I'm curious if Asus, as a motherboard manufacturer that markets to enthusiasts, has included any more adjustments or controls in the bios than the almost nothing you get in a typical HP/CPQ, Dell or IBM.
Specifically, are there any memory adjustments or any cpu controls?

What's that lightbulb LED light for? I see CD drive, battery, bluetooth, and wireless. I dunno what the lightbulb icon is though.

I think that would either be power on or charging.

I don't know if the chassis is improved over the M6000 series, but there are quite a few weak points if they are the same.
- The silver colour trim fades off after a few months of use. For me, it's only the silver trim on the laptop chassis. Not the part around the LCD monitor.

- The palm area is not very sturdy, mine started squeaking after a month of use. Quite annoying and I can't find a fix for it.

- The LCD hinge area is fragile. With long term stress, it starts to crack. Mine started to crack after a year or so.

- The LCD latch is flimsy. When you close the LCD lid, you can hear a flimsy loose spring mechanism sound. Not very pleasant when I first found out when I got my laptop. Also, the two plastic hooks for the LCD monitor is brittle. Very easy to break off.

Other than these, I'd say the chassis is of average quality. And do not that that outer casing is not Carbon Fiber. It's just plastic. It's only the inside that is Carbon Fiber.

Any one with a Z70 can confirm with the chassis weaknesses that I have pointed out? I don't know if Asus improved it or not over the year.

Granted I'm extremely careful with my laptop, but I dont seem to have the problems you are talking about. Maybe they improved the design or maybe I take better care? I bet its more the design... so broken down

I've had my laptop for about 6 months now.. none of the silver stuff is coming off, and my palm rest is fine. It feels very sturdy for me too.

I have not noticed any cracking near my hinge areas, but have noticed that one of the hinges is a little bit loose (if i press it it moves) but nothing serious. I bet its because it always rests on the hinges in my laptop bag.

When I close the laptop lid it makmes a clicking sound. I wouldnt say that it sounds flimsy... it sounds fine to me and ive heard peoples laptops that make much worse sounds closing. Most importantly it closes very solidly and easily.

The outside material seems to be exactly the same as the inside material. I think this is true with all z70s. (Not necess. z71? which my friend has... mine seems more sturdy)

hope that helped and wasnt too delayed

also i'm still loving this laptop

oops sorry about the delay

naw i dont really have problems. My bag is heavier when i carry it around, and i have room for fewer books but its still good. Overall I can carry one fullsized textbook and a few notebooks with the laptop and power charger and calculator in my bag- its a standard bag from best buy

if i moved to a backback i would have a lot more space, but i use messenger bags at the moment
