Thinking about selling my 6000 - PRICE?? - Page 2

post #21 of 32
i gotta admit the XPS2 is extremely powerful BUT the design sucks!!! it's plain ugly, it looks as if someone hit it with an ugly stick! i almost puke when i saw it!

And the 9300 with that ugly ass white trim isn't? I admit, I hate that silver grooved lid thing (whatever it's called) on the XPS, but the black trim is way better. I also think those lights look tacky. I'd love to see the 700m/6000/9300 style with black trim. That would be awesome. I hate that white trim.

assuming you find a not so savvy shopper, you could get 1800 but anyone on this forum knows you can get one brand new for less than that. try out Ebay, those folks never seem to be smart shoppers.

I would never pay more than $1200 for such a system, but it's me.
Lack of WUXGA would make me go away immediately.

Suckers are born every minute, try eBay, see what free market thnks about this.

MitchellO,

I already have a better system for less money.

Bought from Dell:

16.GHZ Pentium M 533FSB Sonoma;
128MB ATI 300 Video Card;
256GB RAM,
WUXGA display;
40GB hard drive;
CD_RW / DVD drive;

Total $707 w $750 off coupon, after tax etc. $796 shipped;

Upgrades:
NEC ND-6550A burner $102 shipped;
Kingston 533MHZ 1GB 2x512 Dual Channel $120 shipped;
Samsung 80GB hard drive $100 shipped;

$796+$322 = $1118.

About to do a pinmod which will make CPU no less than 2GHZ. Add another $150 to the total -$1268.

I have spare 40GB Hitachi drive, spare CD-RW / DVD drive and spare 1.6GHZ 533FSB Sonoma / Dothan CPU.

I think my system is better. What do I miss? Extra battery? I don't need it.
Anyway, it's me. There is something for everybody.

Just bragged a little bit about my new toy.

Peace.

it's still a 6000d which it's consider a lower end laptop
how can you call a fully loaded 6000d a low-end laptop? It beats the crapola out of alot of computers. The only downside is the video card, which really isnt even that bad. I play bf2 on mine with medium settings. "low-end" laptops have integrated graphics, small hard drives, little ram, so tell me, why is the 6000 a low end laptop?

I would say the 6000 is more of a "mid-range" laptop -- and if configured properly, it's right up there with the higher-end systems. The only acception of course is the video card. But let me tell you, this little x300 kicks the pants off of the intel integrated graphics.

If you're going to do the pinmod, you'll need to get your hands on a 400 MHz FSB CPU. It won't work with CPUs already running at 533MHz FSB.

bnice7,

Thank you, I am well aware of it. Pentium M 725 1.6Ghz 400FSB is on it's way to me. My $1268 price includes this.

Hey, does anybody here want to buy almost new 1.6Ghz Sonoma / Dothan 533FSB CPU?

I see Dell sells the 6000 with a Pentium M 725. Will the pinmod work on this processor??

From what I read, yes.
