Thread Starter
I just got my 9300, but I don't know how to tell which I have. Can anyone help me??

If you like the screen you have, don't worry about it. But there are plenty of threads that tell you how if you search. But don't fret about the screen if it's fine for you.

Download Knoppix linux-on-cd disk. Boot with CD by pushing F12 at startup. You'll see the LCD model during boot.

check on dell support with your service tag number, powerstrip will not give you the correct manufacturer. for example my Samsung x7466 reads as SEC5857 on powerstrip, SEC meaning SeikoEpson, they do not make panels for Dell, only LG and SAMSUNG currently.

it is much easier on the dell site to figure it out instead of translating the results of powerstrip or knoppix

SEC is Samsung Electronics Company, not Seiko-Epson. If you have a SEC screen, it's Samsung. What's bloody hard about remembering LPL or SEC? LPL = LG, SEC = Samsung.

Edit: LPL means LG Phillips LCD if you were wondering.

I received my 9300 yesterday and got a Samsung display. A bit of light leakage...hope it gets better soon.

after over three weeks of heavy use, my light leakage on my samsung panel has drastically diminshed. LG panel owners report the same, your light leakage should definitely get better with time and use.what panel did you get Solid Liquid Fox??
I got the X4766 WXGA panel.

why do you care if you like it? if you're not satisfied, then have it replaced... this is a self perpetuatin' problem... ppl read about the "defects" and look for 'em... if it weren't for readin' these threads, most ppl would be very happy with their screens...

AN EASY WAY TO TELL what panel you have is this, first turn your brightness level all the way down, now turn it up two to three settings, if your brightness doesnt increase between settings two and three of seven levels of brightness, then you have an LG panel, if you see an increase at each brightness setting, then you have a Samsung panel. No extra software necessary.

Enjoy your screen, Tar Heels is right about that, too much fretting and worrying.
