Any 6000/700m owners regret their choice? - Page 2

still love my 700M! Use it every day for 10 hours or more. It goes to work with me and helps me through the day, comes home and helps me be entertained in the evenings. Great little machine. I have my desktop rig for gaming. I've recently loaded it up with BBLean and Objectdock. Slick, fast, light, long battery life. Luv it

Love my 700m! It's so small you can take it anywhere. The added SD slot is great too...the one gripe I have is that the screen sure does attract a lot of dust!

They did take out the dedicated video card though. It's a bummer, but the 915 may perform close enough to the Radeon 9000 level that it made sense to take it out.
Actually you can get the D610 with a dedicated radeon X300, which is supposedly close to a Radeon 9600 in terms of performance.

I disagree. Supposedly this new 14" widescreen that dell is going to sell at the end of this year is the 600m replacement, which seems to make a lot of sense.

I've had a 700m for almost a year now. This week I bought my sister a 6000. I had been thinking that I'd keep whichever I liked and give her the other one. But once I had the 6000 in my hands I said noooo thank you.

I had gotten so used to the 700m size that I completely forgot how small and light it is. I could not imagine carrying the 6000 around.

700m forever!

I've only had my 700m for 10 hours now so take this for what it's worth...

But...

I love it! I was sold when a friend of mine who is also our network admin told me he ran his karaoke business off of it and also has supported our company network off it when the phone company split our T1 lines. I found out today that 2 other tech guys at work have the 700m.

I got used to the keyboard after 30 minutes and I am almost up to my 90wpm 95% accuracy (except for my spelling errors).

It's bookin along with a mere 256mb RAM (haven't ordered more yet, need to do that). The screen is beautiful. I'm a happy camper.

Would you belive I just bought 5 of those and completely missed that option when I was configuring them?

I think it's going to largely depend. You're still talking about 4-6 months, and then there is typically some overlap of older model sales when newer models are released. So if not a year, I would put it close to 6-9 months. Does a Inspiron version of the D610 count as a replacing it?

My 700m is great..even better after undervolting it. A friend of mine bought a Sony T series 10.6" laptop for $2100 and now she likes mine better. Although the Sony's battery life is better maybe because it uses 1.2GHz ULV Pentium-M and much lighter at 3.2lbs. But I had mine for ~$800 with similar specs (except the weight maybe).

Typical sony overpriced stuff. Part of the reason why its battery lasts longer is due the T series smaller screen. 700m is perfectly sized, execept for keyboard, the T series is Too small.

I am a very mobile person as well, i travel a lot, and throw this thing in and out of a backpack at least 4 times a day, it is a very sturdy notebook, but i DO suggest a neoprene case to keep it from getting scratched.

Back to the original question. Do i regret my purchase of my 700m? Not at all considering current laptops. What does that mean? Well for a laptop with a pentium M with a 12.1 inch screen, and a built in optical this is the only laptop for the price that i'd have. However i really miss my 300m at times because it was even smaller. If there was any way anyone could manage to put an optical drive in the 300m, i'd be in heaven and would have that laptop hands down. Perhaps im a nit picker, but i think that even the 700m is a little big. Perhaps down the line Dell will pick up some small slot load designed ultra portable that still has the 12.1 inch screen AND STILL KEEPS SVIDEO OUT! What the heck is with these companies with tiny laptops and no video out apart from vga???? Is the decoder chip all that big????? Come on people, design a 300m with a built in optical and you will capture the entire ultra portable market. </rant>

for the price, my 6000 was the best choice. i wanted to be able to handle games, yet didn't want to spend $1500 on a 9300 or an asus. if i had a bigger budget, i would've probably bought an asus z70v refresh. but given my budget, i definitely made the right decision. i just hope this laptop lasts me through college.

Sorry, not to digress too much, but the Sony T series battery also has a crazy MaH rating for its size--7650! Yes, the smaller screen helps too. It beats my X1 in ratings/time as well. But for sure, the Sony is overpriced.

Im still back and forth on this 6000. I love it for the gaming-capable vidcard and keyboard. But I just came back from a trip and i'm now leaning on returning this because the weight and size just seemed like overkill.

I hope another 750 coupon is around the corner because that will be what makes the decision for me.

just wait another 2 weeks..hopefully one will pop up
post #35 of 39
Love my 700m...the 750off deals make it that much sweeter. The keyboard is smaller but I'm used to it now. Not a problem at all considering my hands can palm a basketball.
you cant beat dell deals.....
ITs not fair that you guys in the US get all the coupons. We never see ones like you do. IF we could get one for US$800 like the 700m, Dell would be top over here!!
I love my 6000 so far.

Honestly the only thing is the WUXGA is rather extreme, still getting used to it...
All of the above...
Got 6000D, love it, now getting 700M $677 $762 shipped..
6000D is my video editing machine.
700m is going to replace my beloved Toshiba Libretto 110CT...
Dell got all my money and still reports a poor quarter and bleak forecast...
