D610 - new: closing the lid causes darkspots

Hi everyone im new to laptops: I recently purchased a new Dell d610

I discovered when i open or close my laptop when the screen is on theres a 3 inch strip/spot toward the center of lcd that seems to get pressure and become darker for a second or two.

My question: is this normal or is there something wrong w/ the LCD pannel (is it on too tight)? Will this problem lead to more serious issues in the future?

Wow that's odd. When you close the screen it should turnoff if you have Quickset to do nothing when the screen is closed. I imagine it's just taking longer for the screen to adjust in that spot due to pressure butas for long term effects who knows.

bad screen, bad BAD screen. wanna trade it for my 600m? =)

i'm pretty sure you have at least one year warranty on it so i wouldnt worry too much, if something happens just call dell and they will send an idiot to your house to fix it

Looking at it it seems like the LCDs clear front plastic is a little tight and will get less tight with time, when i open and close it will sometimes at certain angles put a small amount of pressure on the lcd making it seem like a dark spot. IT seems to be getting better as i use the unit more.

Any other pieces of advice?

Thanks for the advice! yes i do have a warranty w/ dell small business for 3 years.
