Wireless management

What do you guys use to mange your wireless connection? Do you use the Windows management or the software that came with your wireless card?

When I got my 700m, I was using Windows to manage my wireless connection. I got frustrated because the connection would randomly drop every 2-3 hours or so for no reason.

Yesterday, I switched to the Intel PRO program to manage wireless networks. Used it for about 7 hours with no drops.

My wireless router is on the first floor and with both managers, when I'm on the first floor I get an "excellent" signal. In my room, I get a "good" signal. I honestly don't think its the router because my dad uses his D410 and doesn't lose connections.

I'll post some more info on the Intel software once I use it again. To any 700m users, have you experienced this problem or is this just an isolated case of Windows acting retarded? Again.

I think the walls in your house offers some interference.

Flourescent (sp?) lights and metal beams can interfere with Wireless signals.

Also small animals like cats and certain species of small dogs can wreck havoc on your laptops antenaes signal locking ability. For maximum signal strength, always keep your small furry pets at righ angles to your laptops antenae.

You don't have a lot of choice when it comes to wireless management. It's usually either the one that comes with the card or the operating system. If you're on pre-xp windows, you have no choice.

The Dell Wireless Lan utility is the coolest one I've seen but I still use the XP one because it works.

Really? Fluorescent lights? I never would have though that they would affect anything.
