Some Awesome Cans!!!

Your first step towards becoming an audiophile!!!

I just bought a pair of these cans for my brother's birthday (I know he bought me a Sennheiser HD600 so I got him a CD/MP3 player as well) and I tried them out...

My verdict!???

AWESOME!!!

They sound very good for $50.00 cans and they actually have punchier bass than my old HD-280's (which I found rather lacking in the Bass department). Clarity wise however they cannot compare with the HD-600 or the immediate 580/590 models (heard - never owned) but they compare pretty darn well with these 280's.

My only gripe is that while they are comfortable to wear - they are not completely circumaural and I hate anything that sits on my ears no matter how comfy it is...

If anyone is in the market for a pair of budget cans then you MUST give these a shot.

Good prices here :-

Cant wait for the HD600's...they should be here on Monday!!

I've heard them and you're right, they're great!

Another set to consider when money is tight are the Grado SR60's

They sound superb and they're especially suited to portable players as they are very efficient.

For anybody in the market for some new cans - in addition to headroom here's another really good review site: www.goodcans.com. I would also suggest looking at AKG. They make some really good studio quality headphones. The only problem is most of them (not all) draw a bunch of power.

Personally I am quite fond of my HD497's..... I got two pair of those and think they even blow the Bose away. Got to second the Grado's though as well... A NICE set of cans....

Either way you can't go wrong.... Sennheiser just makes quality stuff.....

Now, if you want to become SERIOUS about becoming an audiophile though you'll want to add this with it... http://headroom.headphone.com/layout...tID=0010010008

Those amps are being phased out with the newer Revision 3.0 processors and better Op-Amps and components. The 2003 Airhead is good only for the lower impedance cans like Grados, Sony MDR's etc. Dont even think of using them with a Senn HD 580/590/600...no use...

Best cans for the members on this forums are cans that provide ample BASS for those LAN games, isolation and comfort...

The Senn HD280 Pro, HD 212 Pro, HD 497 and HD570 are all very nice cans indeed...

BOSE headphones are not worth calling headphones. They have the worst soundstage I have ever heard and they have crappy build quality...
