My sister's power plug on the laptop broke, and Dell came to fix it. It had her original RAM and an extra 256MB stick in it and there was no problem. But then again they came to us (our Dells come default with onsite I think).

6000 is Very Fast!!!

My 80GB hard drive is divided into 3 partitions. It boots very fast.

What I did:

10gb for C: - OS and Program files;
1.2gb for Swap file (1024MB), constant size ( I currently have 512MB RAM on my system, so it's twice the RAM size).
the rest is for the data fies (video, MP3 etc.)

Cluster size for the swap drive is 32K.

No Dell-installed software, fresh install of XP SP1.

Try it, you might like it.

Does that help? To have a seperate partition for the swap drive? I've never heard of doing that before.

Wonka187,

It sure does. Try it with Partition Magic, you might like it. It's been discussed before, google it.

By the way, I admire your posts regarding 6000 supporting 533FSB dual channel on dell community forums. YOU convinced me to get 533FSB Kingston 6000A RAM
