I just overclocked the Radeon 9550 in my 7422GX to 410/230 (GPU/RAM). I haven’t finished testing yet and I may be able to go higher but here is a simple tutorial on how I did it. I noticed a few questions about it so I thought I’d write this up quick.
I am assuming you have the latest Omega driver that comes with ATI Tray tools. Otherwise,
Omega driver: http://www.omegadrivers.net/
ATI Tray Tools: http://www.radeon2.ru/atitray/
Step 1: Right click on ATI Tray Tools and click on the icon that is sitting in the task bar and navigate to hardware overclocking settings.

Step 2: Click on show 3d Renderer. The renderer actually heats up the GPU. By running the little 3D rocket ship.

Step3: Click on Find Max: GPU button. Let it sit there for a while. I stopped at 410MHz and moved onto RAM. You can actually adjust the GPU rate first and then run find max and it will start from the adjusted rate. Takes a little time off the whole process. I’d suggest starting at 380MHz. I let mine run in the background while I did some miscellaneous tasks. Remember that your laptop may stop responding so don’t work on anything important.

Step 4: Save. Save the current GPU clock rate before moving onto RAM. Your laptop may stop responding on RAM so it’s best to save the GPU. Saves a couple clicks.

Step5: Click on find max RAM. Let that run from the default rate. It may not be for you, but my RAM was a lot more finicky about the clock rate than the GPU. SO I decided its better to just start from scratch with that.

That’s it, once everything has been maxed out save the profile and you have a new overclock. Great for when you need to bump the fps up. I actually alt tab out of CS:Source all the time and overclock on the fly. It doesn’t help how much of a n00b I am, but it does make things run smoother

So far I have gotten 401/235 with no artifacts. I went back and lowered the GPU then tried to find the max mem. With the mem set i am going back to find GPU. I'll probably keep going back and forth until I find a happy medium. Faster RAM is more important than GPU.
