Mine is idling at 52C ATM which is fine (IIRC A2 idle was ~48C). It's the issue of it thermal throttling when I play graphic intensive games that bothers me. I end up in a continuous cycle of creeping up to 95C thermal throttling until temps drop to 70C then creeping back up to 95C within 10 or 20 min. I probably end up thermally throttled about 25% of the time while gaming.
I spoke with Dell and they said low 50's is ok for idle. But they had no answer for the thermal throttling problem and they want to send a tech out to deal with it. This seems a waste of time and money to me but I've got a 4 year warranty and they don't want me tinkering with it. I figure the tech will tinker a bit and say there's nothin that can be done
. I wonder if they might turn a blind eye and sneak some thermal compound onto the GPU HS. that or modding the thermal throttling temp in the bios are probably the only way it's going to get fixed.
