Weird Noise When Power Adapter Is Plugged In.

Hey Everyone,

I have a Toshiba Satellite M40, and it works beautifully.

However, when I am not running it off the battery and plug in the power adapter I get this weird (and sometimes pretty loud) screeching noise, it sounds like a kettle (an old kettle) when the water inside it has boiled.

Is it pretty definite, that the actual Power Adapter is faulty (Its a LiteON), or could it be something pertaining to the actual laptop? I dont want to take the whole unit back to BestBuy if I dont need to, as they will probably want to keep it for a few days, or run out of trouleshooting options and format my harddrive for no reason. (Its happened with my Desktop PC).

Thanks,

P.S - This machine is only a week old.

Did best buy give you a LiteOn power adaptor? I'd say go back tothe store and make them get you a Toshiba adaptor for your laptop, even if they have to take it out of another one they have there. All toshiba laptops come wth Toshiba ac adaptors and I find it strange that you got a LiteOn adaptor, unless you bought it in addition to the Toshiba adaptor that should come with your laptop.

mmmm...the M40 ship with LiteOn adaptors...I will 2x check.

Sony, Toshiba, Dell...no one makes their OWN ac adaptors...sometimes they label it that way...but again its made by companies like LiteOn, Compal, Inventec, etc

take it to Bestbuy...

walk over to one of the display models...and use the display model's ac adaptor...and see what happens.
