5660 and usb

I am confused as to the USB 2.0 support on my 5660. I just purchased an external USB 2.0 DVD writer. I thought my laptop had 2.0 support. My DVD writing was so slow that I ran some tests and it seems the port speed is only around 13Mbits/second. That is USB 1.1 speed! I did some research on the net and found that there are three types of USB 2.0. Hi-Speed (480Mbits/s), Full-Speed (12Mbits/s) and Low-Speed (1.5Mbits/s). Does my 5660 really have Full Speed USB support? That would really suck! Would it help if I purchase a pcmcia card that adds 2.0 support? Only problem is that there is only one pcmcia slot (already filled with my wireless network card).

If you are using WIN-XP, you will need to have SP1 installed. After it has been installed, remove the USB port device and then reboot. Windows should then automatically reinstall the USB drivers with USB 2.0 support when it recognizes the USB ports as it comes "up".
