What's Counter Strike?

Okay guys, I guess you could call me a "hardcore gamer."

Although, i've NEVER played cs in my entire life!!!

So i'm wondering, what do I do, what do I buy, and what do I download (and from where) to play CS!

I'm looking to play CS:S So i'm thinking, do I buy half life 1, then half life source, then download CS:S for free?

What do I do!!

Buy halflife 2 and you get CS:source.

The original counter strike was a mod for half life. The team got acquired by Valve and a commercial version was released.

Counter strike: Condition Zero is a standalone single player Counter Strike which includes CS1.6

Counter Strike: Source is a version of the counter strike mod for Half Life 2 which is included in the HL2 box.

you a hardcore gamer and you dont half life 1? if you have halflife 1 you can download cs for free. Other wise just get half life 2

AHHHH QUICK!! HL2 is only $20 at CompUSA but it ends TONIGHT! Order online or something and save some cash! *rips out hair*

Anyway, yeah, my bro got a copy today - since I'm leaving for college he'll need his own Steam account now. Collector's edition is only $40 at CompUSA btw.

Another fun mod to get is Gary's Mod - you just mess around with the Source engine in it, (limited) multiplayer as well, just make sure you know the server rules so you don't cause lag and get kicked. Here's a pic I made in it of Breen showing off his wheels.

I prefer CZ... the engine of HL1 is much more straightforward and the physics are better in CZ, as are the base models.
