Official Asus Z70va Discussion Thread - Page 7

I am very interested in waiting for the z70v refresh... however, i really want the DVI port. Apparently, it won't be in this initial release.

However, does anyone have any news if ASUS plans to release a DVI port model in the near future? Near future qualifies as before end of Sept./beginnig Oct.

Any news or thoughts appreciated!

I remember someone that said about Oct/November for a DVI port. But that was about a month ago, so I'm unsure it's still valid information.

For that information, i think it is best to message Asus themselves and ask. THere have been speculation about it. A month ago, it was said that there wont be Bluetooth in this shipment, but now I am hearing otherwise.

So no idea.
I thought Bluetooth was always planned for this release?
This model is currently listed with bluetooth on paper. No clue about dvi.

i wanna ask again... how are z70v and z71v screens different? they are the same type? so does that mean both have sparkles? i heard z71v's sparkles is bad. i'm hoping z70va and z70v doesn't have the same problem.
Well, I don't know what the makers are, but the Z71V does have noticable sparkles (at least in my case). Most people notice them at first, and then they just fade away, but it bothered me. However, I'm just one person, as there are dozens of people right now who report great usage. The Z70V doesn't have this problem at all, and since the Z70Va is the same chassis and design (only with an X700 and BT), it shouldn't either.

how does the z70v screen compare to the acer ferrari 4000 screen?
I'm asking because I'm considering buying one of them. thx
post #129 of 212
Someone said the Ferrari screen has the sparkles that people have talked about on the Z71v, but the Z70v doesn't.
well i saw the f4000 screen and also the z71v screen, and I dont think that the acer has sparkles, but it's not really that great of a screen. can someone with a z70v who has seen a f4000 screen compare them?
everyone who has a z70v has agreed that the screen is incredible. its probably one of the best matte screens out there.

I can't WAIT to see the reviews on this bad boy

I can't wait to simply HOLD mine.
Better yet, I can't wait to receive an e-mail from Rick saying that he's received the units from Customs.

ditto to that!

Thanks for the testing info by the way guys.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the good information I've gathered by reading these forums... Now I think its time for my debut as a forum-writer :-)

I guess the closest I can get to the Z70Va in Denmark is the M6Va (Ensemble ASUS http://dk.asus.com/products4.aspx?mo...5&l2=24&l3=128) that should be coming to the country late august (according to one reseller I've talked to) Just wanted to inform you that it seems like the M6Va comes with a glossy screen...? So maybe the Z70Va also will?

By the way, how do you guys (and few girls ;-) think HL2 and FarCry will perform on X700 128MB? Maybe you know that these two games are coming to the XboX - how do you think they will perform on that compared to the X700 128MB?

@#$ dam the denmark one comes with colorshine. why cant the asus u.s. bring in a 15.4" colorshine with a 128mb gpu
post #137 of 212
found this on a german internet shop: http://notebook-shop.de/main.php?section=shop&group=323
Asus A7VC mit Mobile Intel Centrino 1.73 GHz (533FSB/Hybrid-TV), it has a 17” WXGA Color-Shine Display and a 128 MB DDR-RAM ATI Radeon x700
plus a TV-Tuner. would this be the european version of the z70va?
edit: its late...I'm not really there anymore and i realized my mistake, sry.

Andopando, the M6 line and the Z70 line are two different models.

Blueshirds, that wouldn't be it... for one, the Z70 line has a 15.4" Widescreen, no TV tuner, and no colorshine.

Different only in that North America gets barebones instead of Ensembles.

Well after a few weeks debate, and $2500 to spend I am going with the Z70va. I love the looks, the weight, and the added performance with this refresh, and so much more! I don't need my notebook till the start of October, but let’s hope for the best and get something by mid September!

It seems like the only difference between the Z70V and Z70Va is a GPU upgrade, and a Bluetooth upgrade. Does this mean, in the future I won't be able to get a newer GPU from ASUS for the Z70Va? Such as a newer mainstream GPU from ATI or NVIDIA based off the next generation models? If that is the case, then I guess the GPU is soldered on, and not in by a MXM or AXIOM.
