The Llast Straw

Well, that was it. This dual-channel RAM fiasco finished it for me. Alienware, youve lost my buisness. Yes I know im not going to bring them down by not purchasing thier machine, but through numerous phonecalls and emails I must say I would feel dirty giving them my buisness. They obviously dont care about the customers anywhere near the level they need to.

No, im not off to sager. In fact im back to my original choice, voodoo. Yea, give me hell for "paying to much", but even before Ive bought thier machine they've shown the best customer service Ive ever seen in a laptop reseller. I may have opened up a can of worms in this forum, but whatever.

So farewell AW! Does anyone else fell this way? Or can you last through a couple more "marketing follies" (*cough* deceptive advertising*cough*)?

EDIT: yay typo in topic!

Actually Vodoo PC is somewhat an unknown variable here...not too many discussions pop up about those folks...

Do they still use Clevo bases?? In which case I would rethink the logic about spending so much more $$$ when you can get the same for a lot less from Sager...

Remember that marketing and hype and brand name strategies have always been there...they may have a solid setup but Sager has a VERY solid setup and customer base too...

Think about the pros and cons and if you want you can have a healthy discussion here before you spend your money.

Just my opinion...I have the $$$ to get a Vodoo notebook...but that doesnt make me splurge on one because Sager seemed more economical and the logical solution...

sorry to hear about your bad experience. I have had some troubles with them but they are all very courteous(sp?) and do fix my problem asap. also most of them can give me clearcut reasons for why thinks are going wrong.

I cancelled mine 2 weeks ago at phase 11.......I just couldn't stomach the deception.......anyway I've been really happy with Hypersonic they seem to be a stand up company, and good riddance AW.

No, your right. I beleive clevo is still thier supplier; at least for most of thier machines. I guess its just a game of numbers to me at this point. I can sit here all day reading benchmarks between system X and system Y, customer testimonials between A and B, or professional reviews by magazine 1 and 2. In the end, what really tips the scale is my experiance with the company and asthetics (for me...). I Sager is truley an economical solution, no doubt...alot of power too; but im a little shallow in the sense that I want some eye candy too. Its not so much of a money issue, becuase frankly...by the time I have the money for any laptop 500$ either way wont matter; if in getting what i really want. I havn't totally made up my mind yet, and to be honest I probably wont until I actually hit the "buy now" button on some ones website; but I know that it wont be on AWs site.

Im still shopping around a bit, looking at prices, specs, companies, etc. Maybe ill go sager, maybe Hypersonic (the price on thier ath64 is insane...) but definantly not AW.
