Ati Powerplay

Anyone who has recently puchased a 5660 *cough* Wzierbovsky *cough* or anybody with a 5660, can you confirm for me that the ATI mobility 9k has Powerplay. Verification of this could be found where all the card utilities are. .

My reason to ask was because I was reading the Anandtech hypersonic aviator review, and they said that the computer didn't have the software support for POWERPLAY.

Some info on POWERPLAY can be found at http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1692&p=5

There was a thread on this a while back... None of the sagers that I know of based on the forums have powerplay (nor do any of the sager clones). ATI hasn't released drivers for it yet as far as I know... Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

:(

oh man, ATI said they'd have it out by the end of 2k2.

Hmmmm, would all it take would be a software update or does it still not have hardware optionability.

Man, if there make a card and propose it has a trademarked feature like POWERPLAY and yet the cards hardware wise don't have anything, that would anger me.

Yea I don't think ATI has anything for us yet, but I'll try to find out more info.

See, the thing is, I always thought that the card just automatically underclocks on battery and such... from 1.5 watts to .5 watts or whatever the specs were. But on the 8886 there was no difference in performance on battery. The thing is, I underclocked the card as far as powerstrip would allow but it didn't significantly effect battery times.... So that leads me to believe that it's already running and all the powerplay interface allows is customization.
