Your msconfig reccomendation was half good, half bad. You should use msconfig to control your STARTUP programs, but it is not reccomended to control your proceses. This is because it will allow you to turn off services that are vital to boot.
However, black vipers guide was an excellent reccomendation. If used wisely, and you follow ALL his instructions correctly, it'll give some excellent results.
