Hi ! This is the rarely recognized VGA-Fan-Bug ---
I found this bug more than half a year after I got my 9860, only with the help of GetThermal. After I posted my experiences, others also found this problem to appear in their machines. It is unknown how many 9860/9880s are affected by this.
Suddenly VGA fan does not work anymore. BUT GetThermal shows the fan working in some percentage, you can increase fan speed and GetThermal shows the higher speed although the fan does not move. Next point is, it DOESNT wiggle as the CPU fans do, it´s just dead, and air or anything else does not help in any way. If it´s dead, it´s dead.
Of course VGA temps rise to highest level (80-90C), left corner gets very very hot, but system continues working normally if no hard work has to be processed. But if you start f.e. a game it doesn´t take long and systems shuts down, maybe just screen gets black and a restart is necessary. A restart doesn´t necessarily start up VGA fan.
It has nothing to do with any cable or too low voltages or whatever. Suddenly fan starts up again, in most cases, when I turn on UserSet, set VGA to 100% and then turn off UserSet. But this doesn´t help necessarily.
It is very nice, this thing doesn´t happen so often.
