nVidia 7800GTX question

Thread Starter
Well im making some final desicions on the gaming desktop im going to build.
I need some advice on this particular GPU. As you all will know there are lots of different 'brands' of 7800 gtx cards such as BFG, asus, gigabyte etc......
i came across this (click here) brand of 7800gtx card and the reason im considering it is because it is at the shop where i am buying the rest of the components for my pc.

I wasnt able to find a review of it on the net, so i came here.
My question is, would this card still perform as good as any other 7800gtx (except for ones like BFG which are OC'ed).

Please help as i do not want to make the wrong decision about this as it is the most expensive part in my pc.

Thank you.

Chiggle

I shouldn't see why not, then again, I've never heard of Legend.

Yeah, I'd do some research on that brand.. I read Tom's Hardware and Anandtech all the time and have never seen that brand.. BTW, is the 7800GTX supposed to be clocked that slow?? I can almost get that speed on my Go6800, of course I can't even come close to that 1.2 GHz RAM, shnikeys..

i think it is clocked that slow, it has a better chip on it than the 6800 of of course you get more performance per clock.

So do you think it wil be ok to go with that chip. I would rather the BFG 7800gtx but it is quite a bit more $$$. I will still get good performace from that chip tho wont i, it is nVidias chip afterall

it shouldnt really matter about the brand as all the cards are based on the reference nvidia 7800gtx design, saying that, i had a gainward 6800gt golden sample, it died and i got it replaced via insurance, it was a club3d make ? id never heard of em, and the same day the fan died, but the clock was better for OCin than the gainward 68gt gs which is one of the best makes of video cards out there, also i have a 7800gtx, but with the 77.72 coolbits is messed up, i had to use 77.76 to sort it, so whatever you do dont try and use coolbits if you get a 7800 with drivers 77.72

As long as the speeds are the same you should be alright for the most part.

coolbits causes alot of errors lately with drivers above 70.xx, try nvtweak...they dont give me a problem.

To the thread starter you should check nvidias site under build my own config link, they have a list of the 7800 brands ....i think. If im wrong, just make sure you can aquire some sort of insurance dependant on how long/soon you think youd do an upgrade.

....and yes some brands do come clocked at stock...these rarely have a problem oc'ing though, and are known to oc by at most 5% more than more expensive cards( i think its 1 out of every 10k cards that is lucky). Since youre building youre own system i suggest you get some adequate fan intake and a more than necessary exhaust set up.
