There are no 2GHZ Celeron M in existence, are there?

any way to tell?

What CPU-Z / Everest / RMClock / CHC are saying?
The celerons have only 1MB cache and no speedstep. That's the only difference. The 1MB cache does make a difference in performance though.

Haven't heard of a Celeron M 2.0Ghz

That's certainly one fast celly! I'd be interested in seeing some benchmarks to see how it matches up with a Pentium M of the same speed. My guess would be they would match up pretty close.

How to pinmod

Is there an actual tutorial anywhere that explains how to pinmod is it physical work or just a software issue?
Also would it void the warranty?

Yes, it voids the warranty.

Yes, there is a guide:

i did my 6000 with a 725 yesterday, primes stable, ran all night, not a problem. only two weird issues, one the fan is on constantly, and two, everest reports my temp at 44 degrees, no matter what. but i havent had a problem yet. except with speedstep, damn i hate speedstep, i would do anything to kill it. ive got my computer set to always on, and it still happens. sometimes my computer boots to and stays at 800mhz, sometimes its normal. man i hate speedstep

Can't you just change the power scheme in CP to "Always ON" for everything and use CHC for "Maximum performance" for both AC and battery?

That's what I did to my 6000 and 700m, and they don't suffer from Speedstep
Also, i8kFangui (and i9kFangui) is a great program for fan controls on 6000 and it's free.

i actually dont care about the fan much, its just a little strange. only that bothers me about it is that u can feel it if you hold the left side of the laptop. anyway, its set to always on, im installing chc right now, im gonna see if that works. i hate speedstep

The Pinmod doesnt work with 533mhz motherboards, you can only pinmod one of those 400 mhz boards and a dothan processor ending in "5".

This procedure is not recommended for amateurs and the type of metal used in the pinmod can greatly impact its sucess and performance.

Cutters,

Please make things little more clear.

Pinmod REQUIRES 533-capable MB ( or should I say chipset Intel 915PM).

It will NOT work with older 400FSB-only chipset.

In order to do a pinmod you do need "ending in 5" CPU: 725, 735, 745 ( which are 400FSB Pentium M's).

As of material, copper, aluminium, gold, platinum will work.

As of success and performance, not enough sample data is available at this point. It is quite new development.

to the OP, I originally did the pinmod back in the day on desktop computers but did some research and ordered a 6000 to do it on. It was a success. The 9300's came after but receive way more press
