Hey pcbunker get your facts straight.
I didn't plug the Gateway. I don't have that agenda.
Yes Gateway ahead of the curve. The 4780 was announced but is not freakin shipping. Granted, the gateway is not in the hands of consumers and won't be for 2 weeks but it is at least on display. Also I said nothing about inspiration. Frankly I wish IBM and Dell were 'inspired' to make a 17".
I never called anyone a fanboy. That was someone else... I never sang praises of gateway. That would be stupid. I don't sing the praises of Sager either.
I want performance as well but don't even tell me that the existing 4760 will beat the 675XL. When both the 4780 and 675XL are out, then we'll see.
This is the first gateway - ever - that has caught my eye. In fact the 4760 is the first Sager that I took seriously for my use.
About memory - yeah, buy the stock unit and upgrade the memory. Big deal. I freakin build computers so what's the problem?
5400 rpm drive... uh, I do memory intensive work? Besides, 5400 rpm drives can be faster than 7200 or quieter for that matter. It's kind of a tossup.
Price difference for DVD-R on consumer vs. corporate... well I'd just buy through the corporate site, what's the big deal. Sure, it's a classic case of
not telling the nose what's coming but obviously I'd go for the cheaper one.
Concerning out of box... again the 4780 ain't in no box.
I asked for opinions, yes. I got some good level headed ones and I thank the posters for it. Then there are posts like your
that cause me to respond in such a way.
Tell me. If the 4780 doesn't come out, the 8790 is actual replacement that's slated for January, and Gateway delivers without many issues, would you change your tude or would you keep arguing that your beloved sager is the best no matter what? So quick we forget Sagers old track record which sucked
... but then maybe you didn't know that.
