I have been using computers since 1975 (Stanford mainframe WAN access), PCs since the early 80's.
st Gateway, 1992 - 486 33MHz, upgraded to 100MHz, 16 mb ram, larger HD, CD player when they came out, etc. Retired it in 1999, worked perfectly the entire 7 years. Those were the days when they used top quality Micronics motherboards with 48 hour burn ins. Replaced by:
nd Gateway, 1999 - 500MHz, 256MB ram, still runs like new after a fresh install of OS and add'l mem. Still used daily for surfing and internet gaming by kids.
rd Gateway, 2002 - 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, workhorse used daily.
th Gateway, 2005 - M680XL, loaded. 1st mother board died after 3 days. Replaced and working flawlessly for now!
