Battlefield 2

I'm mostly wanting my notebook (4005) for Battlefield 2 on the road. Does anyone have some detail on the resolutions and settings you are able to run the game at, and what kind of frame rates you are getting? Better yet, a screen capture of the game in action would help me a lot in deciding if this unit will do the job well or not. I'd likely get the 1GB of ram initially, and perhaps upgrade later.

Someone in the forum here mentioned it was running good, though I cannot remember exactly where I saw that post. The game is awesome though... if you are a FPS fan, it's a must-have.

I've heard some problems with BF2 on the 4005, with the game crashing from what sounded like overheating of the graphics card. Has this been a common problem? For people who don't experience this, what level of graphics settings are you using?

Yeah, this I would be very curious in knowing about. I like to have extended play sessions, and don't want the unit crapping out on me in the middle of a match.

It seems we're the only ones interested in playing BF2 on a Ferrari.

I have BF2 installed on the Ferrari, it runs very smoothly on 800x600 with everything set to medium - havnt tried anything else. My machine is stock Ferrari 4005

Update to the modded latest ATI drivers and it solves the crashing problem. Both my brother and I own the Ferrari 4005 WLMi and we've both been able to play Battlefield 2 for several hours at a time with no problems (hooked up to AC, not on battery) and the settings were at default for the game (so im guessing their around medium, havent checked since im at work, but it looks awesome in game). This was at battlefields native resolution btw.

Excellent, thanks. Another poster mentioned he was running at 1024X768 with most stuff set to medium... and getting around 50 FPS. That sounds like pretty decent stuff!

Ahh, thank you folks.
