After-market memory question...

Thread Starter
Hopefully gonna get my 9300 ordered soon...

Quick memory question though. If I was only able to get 512MB through newegg, would I see much less difference than if I was to go with a Gig? If its not THAT big of a difference, I'll go that route and save $50.

Thanks

I got 1 gig from newegg for just $97 and the performance increase is quite noticable. I now run objectdock, konfabulator w/ 3 widgets and it's still faster than w/ my 512mb that it came with.
I bought my 700m w/ just 256mb and then bought a 512 stick from newegg for it. The performance increase was also quite noticeable, but the 700m is for mobility and basic processing needs so I don't have the extra tweaks and programs running (other than CHC to undervolt).
That being said, if you are going to game go w/ the 1 gig and eventually get another gig. Otherwise the 512 may be enough. Just my opinion, since you asked.

I think you will defenitly see a large increase with the extra gig. If you play and new games like BF2/HL2 you will also benifit from having 2 gigs.

You'll see an increase with 512MB, but you'll even see a larger increase in performance with the 1GB. I would go with the 1GB.
