You can modify the registry with the current Dell NVIDIA drivers and enable the NVidia overclocking (or underclocking) feature. See/Google: coolbits. I believe that works even on laptops.

Otherwise, maybe the laptopvideo2go.com or Omega drivers come with the Coolbits clock frequency setting feature enabled.

I wonder if anyone's tried this, and if they've seen any battery life improvements.

Have you tried undervolting the cpu? Mine runs noticably cooler, and I havent tested how much more battery I get but Im sure it would increase. No performance decrease either

Its insane how well those mobile cards scale, thats a fine underclock. Also try turning down the brightness of your screen and disabling unneeded devices (cards, CD-ROM drive, etc). The best thing yet would be to disable them in the BIOS

If you can really get 4 hours or more of battery life, I wonder why everyone hasn't been trying this, sooner

well I don't have to undervolt anything as I have both a 6-cell and a 9-cell battery which gets me about 4:30-5 hours of batter life. I'm thinking about getting a 2nd 9-cell for another 2:45 of batter life.

Now lets see someone underclock the ultra.

Haha flash the video bios to get more batt life (for 6800 ultra)...Chances are if youre willing to flash Bios it will be for higher fps, benchmarks, and bragging rights but not a few extra minutes
