i got the program you mentioned, lets you know everything, i'm just wondering is there a program where u can control the fan? I wanna get one where it blows the fan on high constantly if i'm playing games

As I mentioned before, that program only shows hardrive temp, CPU temp, battery life (mah).. Warning etc.. It does not control Fan speed.. For fan speed you should go to Power options (Control panel) and put your mode on Performance... Also you can undervolt your machine, using this program... I undervolt my S460 and it's running cold

@netcbc: can you update us with pictures and some comment on battery life + screen.... We appreciate that.

The Centrino Hardware Control apps is an awesome little app!
It is an awesome app...although Sandra does report it as a resource hog.
then try rmclock
Not sure if i'm right but...rmclock and CHC don't offer fan control for the Sony S...somebody want to clarify this as i am also looking for a fan control app. Thanks
post #11 of 20
they don't, its indirect, you lower your vcore, your cpu runs cooler, your fan runs less, the only way outside of that i know how to control the fan is linux.

" mobilemeter " is perfectttt answer.. do it now!

You can control your fans with the builtin vaio power management app.

I heard that the Sony default controller locks the cpu speed with the fan...can anyone confirm this? Sorry i don't have it installed at the moment.
With CHC I can choose whatever CPU speed I want regardless of what level I have the fans on
post #16 of 20
to those that undervolt...do you stress test to make sure that your system is completely stable at those voltages???
Please read the thread, it has nothing to do with undervolting, this thread discusses software that controls the fans.

No you can't. There is no Performance mode under power options in the control panel. I have a VAIO notebook.

Yes there is, I have a VAIO I dont think you know where to look!

If you open up the VAIO control panel, youll see power management, click on the +, then select power options, when the power options properties opens up click on the

"VAIO POWER MANAGEMENT" tab, look under system, thermal and you can choose "performance" or "quiet".

I have a BZ VAIO and my fan was very loud but since I put it on quiet its hardly noticeable, my temps are around 95f, very cool!!
