Can't install SATA drivers during OS Load (7700)

Hopefully someone else will have an idea. I'm performaing a clean load of XP Pro on my 7700. During initial (text) load, it pulls the drivers from my USB floppy drive no problem. After the format however, it seems to have dropped the floppy and just keeps requesting that I place the driver in drive A... it never accesses the floppy drive after the format.

Any one have *any* solution? I'd really like to get my laptop back up ad running... I miss it

Thanks for any help anyone can provide...

Have you tried calling tech support on the issue, I've yet to follow through with my format. Make sure you enable USB legacy support in the Bios.

from my understanding and from my several installs you have to plug in the usb floppy drive and install the drivers from there from the windows setup screen when it ask you to select function F8 or F6 cant remember at the moment which one for secondary RAID drivers. Without this USB floppy you will not be able to install the drivers. I have tried several BIOS startup and tweaks but none has worked at this moment for me. So this is your only solution is to put the drivers on a floppy drive, plug in your USB floppy and install the drivers from there. Oh BTW alienware has 2 sets on there site, if one does not work try the other driver. Oddly it has always been the opposite one Alienware tech support has told me to use. Good luck...

Actually, slipstreaming a CD worked finally. What was strange is that my USB floppy worked fine for the "Press F^ to load additional drivers" but failed right after format when it starts to copy files. Werid.

I'll write a short FAQ and see if they want to add it to the "Installing XP" sticky thread.

My AW works now... Yay!

When re installing windows for the 7700 you will need SATA driver which can be downloaded from Alienware support site..if you have dual configuration setup "Raid" you need raid driver, if not "1 drive" then download the non raid driver...Make sure to unzip the file first and then copy that unzipped file on a floppy..also make sure to connect the floppy drive before turning on the system, this will allow to load drivers for the drive when booting up. once you are at the setup screen and see "press F6 key to load additional drivers for a 3rd party hardware", press F6, then press "S", insert floppy and you will see the driver already selected..press enter, press enter again to continue w/ setup...hope this helps.

Just a quick note :

U must let the disk in teh floppy during the text mode copy files, it'll be copied during this phase, and when when u're prompted to press F6.
