...type? And do you prefer regular or ergonomic keyboards?

Didn't know where to post this, figured general was the best forum.

I can type about 60 words a minute and I use an Ergonomic keyboard.

Not to bad for never taking a typing class but I have seen 130 words a minute and that just scared me.

I don't know how fast I type and I have the (ergonomic, aging) 59758 Microsoft Natural Keyboard.

edit: according to ..

I can type about 35~40 words a minute but I have to look at the keyboard every so often. I've never taken any typing classes so I type with a variation on the hunt and peck style thus neccesitating the occasional look down every so often to get my fingers situated correctly in what I like to call the kill zone.

I'm surprised there's actually ergonomic users, most people I come across hate 'em. I use them myself, I'm currently using the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro Keyboard and Mouse Combo.

I type about 100-110 on average with 130-140 max. Took one keyboarding class in high school, but was already at 80wpm average by that time. (Thanks, MMORPG's!)

87-93 net wpm, according to a typing test.

However, these tests don't take into account the time it takes to delete misspellings and retype the words; they just subtract mistakes from total word count.

Typing recreationally, on average, I probably type around 80wpm.

around 65 if corrected for errors. otherwise around 80

On AIM, like 85 because I don't care about spelling.

If I'm trying to take good notes or type up some sort of assignment, like 60-70 or im too fast and just continually hitting backspace

Typing Test
The last time that I had a professional typing test performed, I was informed that the rules allowed for a single mistake. Older rules allowed for more mistakes and subracted 1 WPM from your score for each mistake.

According to Typing Test, I can type roughly 116 WPM with 100% accuracy. According to the aforementioned test, I can type roughly 116 WPM with 100% accuracy. As you may have surmised, I do indeed delete my mistakes, but I move faster when I slow down enough that I don't make them, anyways.

I probably type around 40-60 WPM. I hate those ergonomic keyboards. I prefer the standard ones a lot more.
I type around 65 words per minute with 0 errors for typing tests, and probably around 95 wpm on AIM and chat programs when errors aren't that big of a deal.
about 100wpm, but without ergo about 80 or so. I just get to confused when I start typing fast.
i can do about 50 words per minute, but thats without errors and the use of backspace, etc.
I type around 105 wpm nearly perfectly on a normal keyboard.

Try: http://typera.tk

The other test mentioned is too easy and doesn't reflect reality.

I can do easily over 120 WPM on the test you mentioned, however... 100 is the most i can get with typera... which is more realistic.
