OK so are the fans supposed to run ALL the time on the XPS Gen. 2?

Yes, I did a search, and no - the answers were not to my question.

My 6800 Ultra GPU seems to "idle" at around 51C or so, but that's WITH fans running. When people talk about idling, are they referring to this with or without fans?

Also, my fans really do run the entire time at about 3000rpm - both of them. Is this normal? I don't think I've ever heard them turn off.

Get i9kfangui and u can turn em off whenever u want. I don't really care for the fan noise so I make it have my fans running all the time.

Out of the box though, I'm 90% sure the fans were running (as soon as I boot it up), but not at top speed (the fan closest to the CPU is MUCh louder)

Turning them off would probably be a bad idea.

actually, if u turn them off, after it gets warm the fans will just kick in at full speed.

Well my GPU idles, without fans, at about 70C or so. It gets nutty hot. I'd rather the fans run the whole time (the fans don't bother me at all - they're really quiet), but I wasn't sure it was normal for them to run that way all the time.

I don't mind the fan noise, so I use i9kfangui to make my fans work at high speed all the time.
