ASUS Z71V VS Z70V Refresh

Thread Starter
OK i have been looking for a new laptop for some time now and these are the 2 that i have broken it down to. The only difference that matters is the graphic cards and since i need this to last 2 years and still be able to play games its a hard desision. This kinda breaks it down to ATI X700 vs Nvidia go 6600. so far i am leaning towards the Ati but i have heard that they are the same when i come to benchmarks.

So which one do you recomend?

I think most people would agree the Refresh is a little bit nicer.

Thye are both great machines but the carbon fiber top and design of the Z70vrefresh gives it the edge.

not to mention the subpar screen on the z71

Sub-par? Why does everyone diss the Z71v's screen? I'm typing on it right now and I think it's beautiful! Just my opinion of course...

ditto. I like it, too! However, apparrently, if you're used to a perfect screen, it's not up to par. But I've never seen a perfect screen, so c'est la vie!

as a comparison between the two,

the Z71v has the following going for it:
*Ambient Light Sensor
*SATA hard drive support
*It's slightly cooler & has quieter fans (as I recall from seeing several posts on the comparison)
*It's a bit cheaper

the Z70va has the following going for it:
*better screen
*slightly better sound quality
*carbon fiber chassis
*thinner & lighter

Z70Va also has better battery life I believe as well as integrated bluetooth.

I think the x700 will be just a tiny bit better, but wont know for sure until we actually tun some benchmarks. The design is much nicer and its thinner and lighter.
