Like I stated these the only two things I can imagine, it is possible the software CD is incorrect, The correct NSS for the i9300 is version A18.
As far as it being non essential, I would have to disagree on that, it loads drivers written for and tested on the i9300, especially the cpu and usb floppy support. I have a problem with any description that uses the words "critical" and "operation" in them

The CD you should be using for your laptop should be Recsource CD build 868, version A20, you can check this by loading the "Drivers and ultilies" CD and check the very top of the screen it should say the version across the top like a banner.
As far as the .net framework, I had a problem with two installs without it, one was in particular that was Dell Media Experience Version 3.0 it would not install without it at all, and the NSS had an issue until I installed SP2+.net, it was just a suggestion
