fujitsu 7020d lifebook

Thread Starter
I am interested in a desk top replacement and want the ability to tak my computer anywhere. I want to use the computer for photo editing, mini dv editing/ camcorder editing. The 7020 D seems to have everything I need. i am slo looking at the Dell 6000 and dell 600 and the Sony. Size and light weight is very important to me. Any feedback? pros and cons?
I would get the 7020 D with 2mhz and 80 gig drive.
Thanks

Just got a 7020D

Hi Wiggy

I just received my 7020D last week and I love it. I can only think of two negatives.

One, you can not order it with a video card with dedicated memory. The video chip is onboard and uses system memory. I dont use the laptop for games, so that doesnt really concern me. It plays DVDs just fine and has no problem handling large photoshop files.

Two, the negative that bothers me most is the weak speakers and sound from the system. Weak and tinny sounding, but I guess thats typical of laptops - this is my first laptop.

I wouldnt necessarily call this a desktop replacement though because of the weak video system.

But the 7020D is everything I wanted in a laptop and I am very pleased with it so far. And the beautifuly screen, geez.

what's the keyboard like?

Hi Aztec506,

I am thinking of buying a S7020 but have read some bad comments on its keyboard (flimsy, too much flex) and fan noise. What's your impression ?

Hi aua
As far as Im concerned, the keyboard is fine though it doesnt seem as sturdy as my brother in laws IBM laptop. There is some fan noise, but from reviews Ive read its not as bad as a lot of the other laptops on the market. This is my first laptop, so I dont have much experience to compare other laptops. Best advice I have is to go to Best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's etc and compare. I know Fry's stocks a few Fujitsus. Sorry I couldnt be of more help, but Im very happy with my S7020 so far.

Thanks for your advice, aztec506 . In my experience, keyboard on IBM laptops are the best. They are almost unfair competition!

fan noise is ok when a lap top runs that hot you need a fan
