IBM THINKPAD T43p Model 2687-E4U Review - Page 2

I've been told that the T2 is based on the Radeon 9600, and the V3200 based on the Radeon X300.

OK I found out more about the T43p, Lenovo makes limited numbers, so when they sell out you have to wait till they make more. The regular T43;'s are always available.

I called thinkpad twice today but the CSR didn't allow me to my the barebone system unless i configure everything... I did provide the model #.

so maybe they changed the policy and there is no such deal anymore?

my acer ferrari 4005 is better and cheaper and who the hell still sport a parallel port on new lappy? gay oh mine sports a dvi port in place of the ecp port.

and its made of polycarbonate plastic (used in bulletproof glass)/rubber material w/ carbon fiber casing on top.

8x dual layer dvd burner w/ dvd-ram support and wide screen and wifi/bluetooth, and 100gb standard and 3yrs warranty for $150 more. any comes with 64bit cpu, ready for windows vista (since ms also did use amd chipsets to develop the new os) AND sports great looks all for $1000 less

You can get a DVI port if you get the port replicator, something with Acer doesn't offer for the Ferrari.

So? The T43 is made with magnesium.

Wait, you got your Acer Ferrari for $719? How'd you do that? Sign me up!

if you do ur research, polycarbonate plastic is alot firm n stronger than magnesium. bud.

and if you have a dvi port built in to the laptop.. does it get any better? whats the use of putting it on port replicator. think about it. playing stuff on your projector, work, your dvi monitor straight off the laptop. dual display option enabled support even.

thought i read $2300. so sorry take that back. i got it for little more than that. wont say the price but it still puts a big change in my pocket and surpass t43.

how come you didnt quote my other text?

T43p

I found one on the Lenovo site using the notebook finder: http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/st...Number=2687D5U
Case material: Magnesium composite in the top cover, titanium-reinforced CFRP in bottom cover

lmao acer.... the worst company that made a great machine, no doubt, but common like the emachine shadow, it was good, then gateway bought it and it died out its only a matter of time for acer its a good machine no doubt but the things u can do to an ibm are like no lil acer bold statement yes, but anyone that gets a real thinkpad cant ever complain

Hmmm...I figure I'm probably best equipped to chime in. Last July, I bought a Ferrari 4005. I sold it in November for a T43. In July of this year, I'll likely buy the new Ferrari, but certainly not to replace my T43.

The Thinkpad is better. As much as I love the Ferrari, the Thinkpad is just a better laptop. Sure, I prefer the rubberized coating on the Ferrari, but the TP is thinner, lighter, cooler (temp), has a better keyboard, a trackpoint and thinklight, and has better battery life. More options. 2nd HDD? no problem. I have 2 80gb 7200rpm drives in it right now. Extended battery life? 9 cell + ultrabay battery = 9 hours of battery life. The 4005 routinely got 3 and a half for me...but there was no provision for extendd battery life.

But let's be honest. We're comparing what was the best gaming laptop in the 15.4" form factor against the best thin & light laptop that was available. Well, the 14" at least. I liked the 15" T42P that I had, but the 14" was always the sweet spot for me. Portable but powerful, and under 5lbs.

Different classes. Different intentions.
