the same here ...

Don't know if it was there in the old BIOS, but i just noticed that you're able to set "fan always on" (defaults to off) in the Acer eSettings. So if you want your ferrari fan to run at full throttle all the time you can do it here.

My Ferrari 4005 came with 3A19 out of the box, and I too have the "Fan Always Enabled" option.

aaaahhhh I can't get bios installed :(

I have windows 64 bit installed so winflash won't work. So I made a bootable cd with nero to run the bios update from and got it all loaded. Then I ran the Phlash16.exe and it amediatly starts beeping and saying that it can't load the bios.wph file.

there is no bios.wph file... that file extension is the same as the bios update file extension and I had it right there in the same root rirectory with the phlash16 execute so what gives....?

By default phlash16 looks for BIOS.WPH.
If you bios file has different name then you can rename it to BIOS.WPH or you can pass the name as argument
eg: phlash16 ZF3_3A21.wph

Tip : try phlash16 /? for help

According to the change log ... the new BIOS contains a bunch of ACPI fixes ... and not much else. So you might not notice much of a difference ... but the power saving features may have been improved.

Well I tried renaming the bios file to bios.wph and that still didn't work it doesn't even let me into the program it just comes up with that message that it can't find any bios.wph and then wants to reboot. I'm not haveing any problems with my current 3a17 bios so I guess I will just wait until there is a 64 bit bersion of winflash... unless someone knows what I'm doing wrong... I just put the bios.wph file and the phlash16 file together on a bootable cd.

lol i dont think they're going to provide Winphlash 64 any soon.

Anyway please try it again.
Assume your BIOS file is Zf3_3A21.wph then do this at command prompt :
phlash16 zf3_3a21.wph

i did it that way when upgrading mine so i can't see why it doesn't work on you.
Hey it worked. So get this! I changed the file to bios.wph in windows before the burn but in dos its still the original file name so no wonder it didn't work before. But yet in windows it does show as bios.wph. I don't now how that works. Anyway thanks.

Anyway it's all loaded on now so now I have 3a21 insted of 3a17 which is what it came loaded with.

BIOS update went real smooth on mine.

I'm still waiting on my copy of X64, so I was able to use WinFlash in 32bit XP with no issues.

How easy is it to flash the BIOS for Acer notebooks?
Oh, and is it worth it to do it?
Pretty easy with WinFlash.

Install WinFlash.
Load WinFlash.
Tell WinFlash were the BIOS update file is.
Flash the BIOS.
Restart will be automatic.
Done.

ive got whatever the very first bios is, like 315A or 317A or something. Does it make sense to update to this new bios? will it really make any difference? I have x64 so I don't really want to go through a hassel to do it, but if there is a semi easy way could anyone tell me?

copy the phlash16.exe and bios file to floppy. That's what I did.

Problem will be the himem.sys file or whatever. I took a Win98 bootup CD, edited the option for booting w/o CD-ROM to also take out himem. I use that to boot, then swap floppies for flashing. Had to do the same thing with my Dual Opteron system...
