8600 Audio Controls

This question may apply to other notebooks, but the 8600 is what I own.

The laptop has audio controls on the right side, namely "play" "next" "last" "stop". These controls only seem to work when using windows media player, or when controlling cd audio. Windows media player is not my player of choice, nor do I play much audio from a cd (usually mp3s) --- so my question is this:

How do I re-assign what these buttons do? I find no utility provided by Dell that addresses these buttons.

Thanks

I would also like to know... Because before my reinstall, when I put in a DVD, a program would start up and play it right away... Now nothing starts up and I don't know how to play the DVD... Any thoughts? Can these buttons on the side of the keyboard do any good? How do you work them, and can they be used during DVD playback??

It depends .. What program are you wanting to use ?? There is a DLL you can load to make it work with Winamp ... Some programs allow you to set the keys within the program ..
