Holy moly!!!

I am not..

Still sticking by my 5680 order..this machine is juat a very scary beast in disguise.

This is just another toy..people will buy, people won't. People will be content with their current purchase. I personally wouldn't get it. It's crazy. Destroys the definition of "mobile".

Anyway have fun everyone.

But it creates a new meaning to the phrase "desktop replacement".

Very tempting to upgrade if they have one for the 5680 but i'm quite content with what i have, think i will wait for the upgrade after that

Wow, where did this come out of? Sager seems to be fond of randomly releasing things without any hint or anything... Remember the 3750 annoucement?

Anyways, aside from the M11 and the screen, I don't really see how that will be much better than an 8890. Almost everything else is the same, although I am liking it's sleeker 1.6" height, compared to the 8890's 2.15". Also, if ATI does with the M11 what it did with the M10, don't expect it to come out until mid-year next year...

Oh well, I just got the hl2 beta today and it ran very comfortably at 60fps at 1024x768 with 6xAA and 16xAF, so I'm happy

you dont really see why its better? you must of skipped over the parts like the upgraded video card, the 17" screen, the 4 speakers, the included web cam thingy....theres more but i don't feel like typing
post #47 of 331
Yeah, and the prescott...just a little important.

i don't know....if i had a choice i think i would go for the web cam thingy...
Oh please, the webcams are cheap little things... I've had rather poor experiences with many of them. I don't really expect this one to be any better, probably suitable for nothing more than video conferencing. If I really needed to record video, that's what the 8890's TV tuner is for...

Again, I emphasize, the only thing we know about the M11, is what we got from that one interview with one of the ATI guys. I also severely doubt that ATI would undercut their own M10 after just a scant 3 months on the market. Chances are, I'd say the M11 would probably be severely delayed...

BTW, my money's on that the current batch of 8890 will accept the first prescotts. If not, then a simple bios upgrade will fix that. I don't have any intention of upgrading my proc though, so I'm set for now...

one thing i did see is that the fireware is a 6pin and not a 8pin like the 8890. I wanted the 8 pin so I dont have to use an adapter. But I can live with it

don't you mean 4pin (unpowered) and 6pin (powered)? but even still the firewire ports in all the sager's (correct me if i'm wrong) are unpowered. and therefore might as well just be 4 pin ports.

Actually, it's a 4-pin. The 8890 has a 6-pin firewire port. Unpowered is always 4 pin, and powered is always 6-pin.

No big deal, just thought I'd let ya know.
Well, quite frankly, just be happy it has a firewire... Let's not grovel over port sizes, especially since these cords are cheap and can be easily converted back and forth.

BTW, I don't think I've ever seen a powered firewire plug on a laptop, save for the apples...
oh i put that in wrong. Ya 4 pim i mean. I like having the 8 pin. That is why I always liked the 8890 becaue it had everthing. but now it has the 4pin firewire.

All I can say is PRESCOTT!!!

if adam is right, then i'll definitely try and save an extra grand for the 8790 and another grand for a prescott when that comes out.

But the thing that worries me is that the 4780 hasn't come out yet and they are already planning for this 8790... First things first boys, I've been hearing about the 4780 and waiting for it since the summer and now it's almost christmas.

The 8790 is planned for january, but how do they plan on getting it out in two months when the 4780 has been talked about since august with still no show?

I'm really hoping Sager/Clevo surprises us all and actually gets them out on time. But even then, you gotta still wait for a month to get it after ordering...

Sorry for the complaining. On a brighter note, Either way I'll have the nicest 17" laptop in my area for a very long time... (If they ever come out)

PRESCOTT, DUAL CHANNEL and M11 BABY!!!!!
gimme, gimme, gimme... need I say anymore?
Like I said already - chances are the 5680/8890 will handle the prescott anyway.
Now only if Prescott comes out. So excited.
