Yeah I gotta agree with this. I dont see any mention of the M11 on ATI's site - nor in the usual tech places.

Actually, way back in march/april of this year when the m10 was anounced it was stated over and over and over again for the next few months by Adam that the earliest we would see it in the 88xx series was end of July. Pre-orders began about a week later in August and shipping a little after that. So their estimated availability was off by a week or so. The only people ripping their hairs out until August were the same people that kept insisting that it would be out sooner.

These are still estimations but so far sager has done quite well in predicting release dates compared to many other companies.

Nvidia didnt acknowledge the 5650 untill iw was shipping IN laptops...

yeah but ATI are known for trumpetting new products from the rooftops. The info on the M10 was on the ATI web site basically the Day it was announced. I am not saying it wont happen - I am just saying that its strange that a card this powerful has been completely overlooked on the manufacturers web site and the tech industry in general.

Besides I am waiting for this

ATI isn’t completely without fault, as their product announcement comes after their tradition of the Mobility Radeon 9000, which was touted as the first mobile graphics chip to be announced and shipped within a week. Hopefully, we will see the next generation of mobile graphics processors (M11 and NV36M) with an announcement much closer to their full market release. (Of the two, we have only been able to see M11, which is definitely something to keep your eyes peeled for as we near official announcement.) Ideally, each company’s marketing should hold off until the date nears, and not jump the gun to respond to the other.
Maybe ATi is just holding on the release info until it's shipping like nvidia 5650

It could be that Sager blew the whistle too early too. It may be that since this laptop is in production, it wasnt meant to be announced yet. Wouldnt be the first launch like that..

Well I hope it does come out on time. I will be interested to see the benchies. I imagine they will be crazy. I am happy with my 5680 - I know it will be fine for at least a few years yet for all games.

Anyone have a review of the 9700v9600 desktop?

if you look at the following picture from the above site it seems that the ibm t40 will get a m11 upgrade at the end of 2003

http://www.sundigi.com/files/2003/09...t40/07/701.gif

if you search ATi M11 on googles quite alot of hits come up showing M11 is in the processing making a debut soon and there is even a m12 in 2004

I don't quite get what all the excitement is, this is kind of a useless resolution unless your primary use is watching DVD movies.

I do watch DVD's occasionally on my 8890 but not enough to want a screen optimised for that & nothing else.

I owned a 17" WS laptop for a while & it was kinda cool for movies but I like the 8890 better most of the time.

ATI's marketing dept. is awful IMHO. Remember the 128mb M9? This was in sager laptops months before it was ever listed on ATI's website. Even email from ATI stated it did not exist People still doubted adam but eventually the proof came out. I just want to say adam's information has been more factual and up to date than ATI and most other info from other laptop vendors IMHO. To go back to when this forum first opened:

-sager customers RECEIVE the first M9 laptops before anyone else. Sure you can order it from places like AW, dell...etc but they wouldn't ship for at least 3 weeks or longer in some cases.

-sager customers receive first 128mb M9

-sager customers receive first m10pro laptops (I believe toshiba beat them to the punch with the standard IIRC) People doubted this as well.

All the information above was first given to us by adam/sager months in advance and they have yet to disappoint so I see no reason to doubt them now. So I see no reason why sager wouldn't get the early jump on the m11 as well.

If ATI learned anything from the M9 and M10 launch they must have realized that the shorter lag time of the M9 from press release to availability had a better response with the consumers and perhaps that is what they are aiming at with the m11 release.

Does this 8790 have either dual battery support OR at least come with a bigger battery (maybe like 8000mAh)???????

One word...

Woot

Well, it seems that the M11 just may exist. My question is, why would ATI undercut their own sales? They probably spent so much money on developing the M10, I don't see why they would just release another card a mere 3 months later... It just seems odd to me... Even if they were THAT desperate in beating Nvidia, don't you think 3 months is a bit short?

Technically the M10 was announced back in March I think so it's not too far off when you think of that. Their development cycle on mobile chips seems to be about 6-9 months inbetween each major revision starting with the M7 so this appears to be right in line. If they play it out like the M9 you probably won't see any info on it until a few weeks before availability. I'm sure NDA's are in full effect regarding the M12.

Remember, the Geforce4200go took about 6 months before release and 1 month later the geforce fx cards were announced and shortly after released.
