All 4 of my Z70V's USB ports are currently "low speed"

Hi. This is a new laptop, and I know for a fact that the Z70V has high speed 2.0 usb ports. However, when I plugged in my external hard drive, I could only get low speed transfers. Is there a driver for this problem? If so, I could not seem to find it on the driver cd or the asus website. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did no one else have the same problem?

The USB drivers should be on the included CD. Also check if your external HD supports 2.0 speed transfers. Another thing is, make sure your usb cable is 2.0 rated. Sometimes people grab USB cables that are just lying around on the floor that may be old and don't support 2.0 speeds.

I'm positive my external HD supports usb 2.0, and it came with the usb cable as well.

I believe I installed all of the stock drivers that were on the cd, but I'll try them again tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion.

Google for "Intel chipset INF" and "Intel application accelerator". Install them both. Restart laptop. Rejoice.

Yeah, what idea said. Really you should install the Intel INF driver before anything on your laptop. You don't need the USB 2.0 drivers. Actually I don't think you can use them. You have to install WinXP SP1 or SP2 for the USB2.0 to work in addition to the INF driver.

Oh and for Win2K you need SP3 or greater I think.

Is there a Drivers thread for the Z70V similar to whiteheats?
Or all the drivers between the Z70V and Z71V are the same?

the Z71 forums are going to be the builtonasus forums (www.builtonasus.com) in the next few weeks. It will deal with all of the currently available Built on Asus laptops and the older ones. I will also be ordering a Z70Va when they are available (and keeping my Z71V)
